Website, Online Store, or Landing Page: Which Do You Need?

Confused between a website, an online store, and a landing page? A clear guide to which one your Philippine business actually needs. By GBGCoders.

"Website" is often used as a catch-all, but there are really three different things you might need — and choosing the right one saves money and avoids frustration. Here is the plain-English difference.

A landing page is a single, focused page with one goal: capture a lead, promote one offer, or launch a campaign. It is the cheapest and fastest to build. Choose it when you have one clear message or promo and do not yet need a full site — for example, a single product launch or an event sign-up.

A business website is a multi-page site that represents your whole business — home, services, about, contact, and more. It builds credibility, ranks on Google for what you offer, and brings in inquiries over time. This is what most businesses actually need: a proper home base online.

An online store (e-commerce) is a website built to sell products directly — with a catalog, cart, checkout, and payments like GCash, Maya, and cards. Choose it when you sell physical or digital products and want customers to buy online, not just inquire.

How to decide:

These are not mutually exclusive. Many businesses begin with a landing page or simple site and grow into a full website or store as they expand. The key is matching the build — and the budget — to what you actually need today, with room to grow.

A common mistake is paying for a complex online store when a simple business website would do, or launching a single landing page when the business really needs a full presence. Getting this right from the start saves you from rebuilding later.
